Al-Jouf Regional Museum
Al-Jawf
A Window to History and Heritage in Dumat Al-Jandal
Al-Jawf
Positioned in the center of Dumat Al-Jandal city, south of Marid Castle in the Al-Jouf region, Al-Jouf Regional Museum covers an area of 12,000 m2. It is characterized by its strategic location and its view overlooking an important archaeological area that includes Marid Castle, Omar Mosque (Masjid Omar), Al-Nuwaisser Museum, and other civilizational landmarks of Al-Jouf.
Its museum display is based on a comprehensive vision, taking the visitor on a journey through various historical periods, and across eight main halls: the first for reception; the second for the region's archaeology, heritage, and natural history; the third highlights the Prehistoric and Protohistoric Eras; the fourth delving into Pre-Islamic times; the fifth tracing the Islamic Ages; the sixth encompassing Modern and Contemporary Eras; the seventh showcasing Folk Heritage; and the eighth hosting visiting and temporary exhibitions.
The museum contains archaeological and heritage artifacts that narrate the civilization of the Al-Jouf region and its most important archaeological and heritage sites, arranged in chronological progression from prehistory to the Modern Era, thereby illustrating the profound historical layers embedded in the region.
Beyond these eight halls, the museum houses several technical and administrative departments: the Staff Department and supporting technical sections, which include units dedicated to surveying, archaeological drawing, photography, and restoration, along with a library that serves researchers and supplies the museum with knowledge resources, and a hospitality section designated for researchers visiting from outside the region.
Thus, the museum becomes a vibrant cultural beacon, welcoming those interested in exploring Al-Jouf's ancient history and discovering its rich and diverse heritage.
