The Athar Project constitutes one of the outcomes of the Thara Saudi Initiative. It seeks to reintroduce antiquities and historical landmarks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabi through digital format, with the aim of enriching experiences and enhancing historical within a cultural and civilizational framework. Moving beyond the presentation of harsh facts alone, the project transforms the experience into a living story connected to place, time, and man. The project employs several languages to present its content in a an accessible and engaging manner. It targets visitors, researchers, and heritage enthusiasts at both local and international levels, thereby, it contributes to the promotion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a global cultural and humanitarian repository. Athar Project is an initiative of King Abdulaziz Public Library, dedicated to preserving knowledge, documenting the heritage, reintroducing it to the contemporary generation in digital formats. By doing so, the project contributes to enriching the cultural landscape and fostering the awareness of the Kingdom’s history, legacy, and civilization in a captivating, inspiring, and sustainable way.
