Tayma Wall

: A Stone Fortress Surrounding the Historic City

Tabuk

With a height reaching up to 10 meters, the Tayma Wall is a prominent archaeological landmark surrounding the city of Tayma from three sides. It encompasses its palaces and structures that reveal features of ancient urban and defensive organization.

An ancient stone wall surrounds the city of Tayma from three sides: the west, south, and east.

The reason it remains incomplete on the northern side is due to the presence of a lake (a fossil lake), which formed a natural barrier surrounding the city from that direction.

The height of the Tayma Wall is approximately 10 meters; the city's western wall extends for a length of 2.5 km.

As for the southern wall, it is 3 km long and lower in height than the western one, featuring three gates.

It is believed that the width of one gate is between 8 and 10 meters, and the second is between 5 and 8 meters.

The wall protects a group of buildings scattered inside it, most notably Al-Radm Palace, Al-Hamra Palace, the irrigation network, and residential area mounds.

The Tayma Wall remains an archaeological landmark that highlights the historic status of Tayma throughout the ages, through its architectural evidence.
