An Umayyad Engineering Masterpiece on Al-Hada Road
Makkah
Thalbah Dam is located west of Taif, on the right side for those taking Al-Hada Road, before Jabajib village
The dam wall stretches across the entire width of the valley from northeast to southwest. Its design demonstrates a strikingly notable harmony with the valley’s terrain
It was constructed of two balanced walls, with the intervening space filled with stones.
At the time of its construction, the dam measured 90.78 meters in length, with a width ranging from 7.30 to 9.60 meters and a maximum height of 9 meters.
Over time, the middle section of the dam wall collapsed, and an asphalt road now passes through it.
Despite these changes, the dam still retains its architectural elements and remains in good condition.
Dating back to the Umayyad era, it serves as a living witness to the achievements of water architecture during that historical period.
