Wadi Liyyah Dam
Makkah
A Grand Water Structure in Taif
Makkah
Wadi Liyyah Dam, situated 11 km southwest of Taif, represents one of the most prominent projects reflecting the commitment to water resource management.
It is an embankment (rock-fill) dam, constructed to protect the downstream areas, which include villages, farms, and various agricultural projects.
The dam also systematically regulates water discharge through Wadi Liyyah, thereby ensuring the prevention of damage and soil erosion affecting agricultural lands.
Additionally, It facilitates the recharge of groundwater, thereby raising the water table of the valley’s wells, maintaining water balance and ensuring the sustainability of agricultural activities.
The dam stands 40 meters high and 190 meters long, with a storage capacity of 10 million cubic meters.
