Riyadh

Jabal Munikh Watchtower is a mud-built tower with a stone foundation, constructed on a hill overlooking the old town of Al-Majma'ah. It was used historically for surveillance and defense and is considered one of the most prominent examples of traditional architecture in Najd.

Jabal Munikh Watchtower (Marqab Jabal Munikh) is located in the city of Al-Majma'ah, north of the Riyadh region, atop a hill that overlooks the old town, historically known as Al-Faiha.

The tower was constructed from mud reinforced with a stone foundation. It is a traditional building method prevalent in Najd. It represents a part of the Najdi architecture that reflects the spirit and era of the place.

The tower with its elevated location which provides a wide view of the surrounding area was used for surveillance and defense purposes.

A wall surrounds it from the western side, which reinforces its defensive function and illustrates how the Najdi communities secured their settlements.

Jabal Munikh Watchtower is an authentic architectural model that still stands. It has undergone restoration, and its natural surroundings have been enhanced, making it a cultural and heritage attraction, especially amidst the growing interest in reviving the mud architecture that represents an ancient legacy in the history of the central Arabian Peninsula.
