Al-Rawdah Mosque
Makkah
A Landmark among the Archeological Sites of Wadi Fatima
Makkah
Built during the late Ottoman era, Al-Rawdah Mosque is a small, rectangular-plan structure that remains standing in its original location in Al-Rawdah, Wadi Fatimah. |
It was built with basalt stones covered with a layer of plaster. Its architectural style differs from the region's mosques, as it is roofed with four semi-barrel vaults. Rectangular buttresses project from its side walls, and it has no minarets. |
The mosque features two mihrabs that project outward in a rectangular shape, each topped with a pointed arch. |
It has two entrances in the northern wall, positioned opposite the two mihrabs. It also features eight windows, with two positioned adjacent to each of the mosque’s four corners. |
