Small Ruins... Tell Much

Al-Thayah is located about 3 kilometers northeast of the ancient city of Hali, and it is considered one of the sites that, despite its limited size, bears clear features of a simple rural settlement, which was part of the extension of human activity in the region.
The foundations of building walls are scattered across the site, along with fragments of pottery, ceramics, and glass covering the surface of the hill.
The most prominent feature is a standing structure on the western edge of the hill.Plastered red brick was used to construct it. Two walls stand out from this structure, the northern and the western, each approximately 3 meters long, while the southern and eastern walls are less clearly defined.
Close to this structure, a circular stone building was found, with a diameter of one meter and a wall thickness of about 90 cm. Researchers, led by Al-Zaila'i, suggest that this architectural element is the remains of the neck of a buried well, or an ajacent water basin. It was used for collecting water or for daily uses.
This site, in its simplicity, reflects the features of daily life and functional construction in the Hali region, offering a miniature model of a simple settlement based on water, dwelling, and labor.
