Al-Disah (Al-Deesah)

The Oasis of Beauty and History in the Heart of Tabuk

Tabuk

Al-Disah is a natural and historical oasis located east of Duba Governorate in the Tabuk region. It is characterized by abundant water, dense vegetation cover, and is home to an ancient Nabataean settlement, Thamudic inscriptions, and the remains of a Nabataean tomb, granting it unique archaeological and natural value.

Al-Disah is located southwest of Tabuk and is considered one of the most prominent natural sites in the Kingdom. It is an oasis distinguished by the striking beauty of its mountainous terrain and the diversity of its wild plants, such as mint, Al-Nafilah (clover/alfalfa), and papyrus trees.

Archaeological evidence points to ancient human settlement in the area, apparent in the remains of a Nabataean settlement, an incomplete Nabataean mausoleum, and Thamudic inscriptions scattered on the rocks near the spring, in addition to Kufic and ancient writings dating back to early eras.

An ancient road passes through the oasis, heading north towards Tabuk via the Rawafah Temple, which reinforces the area's value as an ancient cultural and commercial hub.

Another striking feature in Al-Disah is the presence of large quantities of mineral remnants, suggesting that mining and smelting operations were historically practiced at the site. The flowing waters of the springs of Wadi Qaraqir in Al-Disah are considered one of the most vital elements of life in the area and a primary reason for the flourishing vegetation cover.

Today, Al-Disah is witnessing an increasing influx of visitors and tourists throughout the year, due to the blend of stunning nature and rich history it offers.
